The Starting Point

IDEN is a traditional, medium-sized family business in its fourth generation, with headquarters at Südkreuz in Berlin. As a leading trading house, the company has been supplying products from the stationery, school and toys categories to its retail customers throughout Germany since 1890.

The Challenge

As a longtime partner of IDEN in the field of office design, we were asked to completely reimagine an existing space of 225 m² as an open office concept at the beginning of 2020. One goal was to work with the marketing department to create differentiated space offers for the future users for their different ways of working. At the same time, it was also important to us to make the Iden brand a tangible experience for employees and visitors alike.

Our Solution

Twelve ergonomic team workstations have been created, spatially separated from the entrance lounge and conference kitchen by multifunctional "boxes". These media-equipped room-in-room systems offer six to eight people the opportunity to meet and retreat close to their workstations. Motorized height-adjustable conference tables and flexible seating offer the user versatile and dynamic usage options. It was particularly important to us to design the printer, lounger and checkroom areas to be both visually secluded and acoustically effective.

In October of 2020, the employees moved into the new space.

Especially the development of a comprehensive interior design concept was a lot of fun for us. A highlight is the striking yellow stripe, which is based on the company's CD and runs three-dimensionally through the center of the space and serves as an acoustic filter. In the entrance lounge and conference kitchen, with their wooden surfaces and versatile green tones, the user is immersed in a naturally designed room atmosphere with a feel-good factor.
